“I have never thought of writing for reputation and honor. What I have in my heart must come out; that is the reason I compose”

Ludwig van Bethoven.

That overwhelming motivation described by the genius Bethoven is the same one that moves us to support the productions we represent at IKEBANAH Artes Escénicas.

ART, EMOTION, TRANSFORMATION, are the three forces in which IKEBANAH is rooted. The fascination for beauty and admiration for the sensitivity of the artist who manages to create it, the emotion that it produces in us and the inner transformation that it inevitably leads us to, are the impulse that moves us to devote to this profession, with the intention of sharing and transferring these same sensations to others.

We see ourselves as connectors between artists and programmers-audiences, unique and valuable links in this cultural ecosystem we are part of, and we feel our work as an ethical and social commitment to the world.

Founded in 2010 by Ana Sala (graduate in Journalism with a background of independent work in journalism and the performing arts since 1999), IKEBANAH is today a fully consolidated, valued and highly appreciated creative project, both nationally and internationally.

Drawn by the human and cultural richness of the world we inhabit, life and our profession have led us to expand boundaries, organising tours for our artists across the five continents in the last twenty years (Europe, America, Africa, Asia and Oceania), as well as becoming ambassadors and producers of multiple tours of fantastic European companies throughout Spain.

Unconventional proposals, visual and object theatre, immersive-sensory theatre, dance with its enveloping and participatory ability, the proximity of art for the youngest audiences through play, and the need to connect with our most human and intimate side, are common features of the shows that we like and that we promote.

Spain, Europe, Asia, America, Africa, Australia… our performances have been featured in festivals and theatres across all five continents. Listing them all would be endless, as we have made countless journeys over these 26 years of experience to carry out our work in dissemination and professional networking.

But as a summary, we can confess that we have very good memories of our time at the GREC Festival in Barcelona, the Festival de Otoño in Madrid, Temporada Alta in Girona, Edinburgh International Theatre Festival, Imaginate Festival, Barbican Centre in London, Belfast Children’s Festival, Festival Mondial des Théâtres des Marionnettes in Charleville-Mézières, Festival Le Chainon Manquant in Laval, Momix Festival in Alsace, Festival Chalon dans la rue, Festival MIMOS in Périgueux, Festival MIMA in Mirepoix, Starke Stücke in Frankfurt, Panoptikum in Nuremberg, Figura Festival in Baden, Export-Import Festival and Théâtre de la Montagne Magique in Brussels, Assitej Summer Festival in South Korea, Ricca Ricca Festa in Okinawa, Taipei Children’s Festival, Macao Arts Festival, Hong Kong Arts Festival, SHCAT in Shanghai, PAMS in Seoul, Awesome Festival in Perth, Hamedan Children’s Festival in Iran, Carthago Festival in Tunisia, Assitej World Congress in Cape Town-South Africa, Istanbul Theatre Festival, CINARS in Montreal, FIAMS in Québec…

It is precisely in these moments of exchange with audiences in other countries, of encounter with other cultures, transcending languages, beliefs and borders, that our work as promoters of art in all its forms takes on its fullest meaning.

Thanks to all the people we’ve met on these trips for their interest in our shows, and for the energy they put into making each performance flawless! In this world of exchanges, interconnection and openness to difference are the way forward.
