The French company Cie DK59 presents for the first time in Spain Bolero, a fresh and luminous take on Ravel’s celebrated score. Directed by Gilles Verièpe and performed by him together with Yulia Zhabina, the piece celebrates movement and imagination through the gestures of childhood and the simple games that help us understand the world, overcome fears, and make room for lightness and joy.
The premiere of this dance piece for all audiences aged 5 and up will take place on 16 and 17 October at the FIET – Fira de Teatre Infantil i Juvenil de les Illes Balears, in Vilafranca de Bonany (Mallorca), where it will also open the festival. The company will return in March with a tour that includes Teatro Escalante in València (4–8 March 2026) and LAVA in Valladolid (1 March), among other dates.
“Yes, there are many versions of Bolero, but this one, by Gilles Verièpe for two dancers, particularly explores the joy of the work, the gesture of children’s play, and blends different dances in a choreography that is rich and full of surprises.”
