Three Ikebanah companies featured in the Catalan Focus at MIMOS Festival in Périgueux
Engruna Teatre, Cia. Ortiga and Llum de Fideu are part of the programme of the 43rd edition of one of Europe’s leading festivals for mime, physical theatre and visual performance.
From 30 June to 4 July, MIMOS Festival Périgueux (France) celebrates its 43rd edition. This year, the festival gives a spotlight on the vitality of the Catalan performing arts scene through a Catalan Focus, featuring four companies, three of them represented by Ikebanah: Engruna Teatre, Cia. Ortiga and Llum de Fideu.
Engruna Teatre presents UNIVERS, a sensory experience for babies and toddlers (0–2 years) that invites audiences to freely explore a constantly evolving world of movement, music and objects. The production arrives at MIMOS following an outstanding international tour that has already included venues such as Sydney Opera House, Barbican Centre in London, Imaginate Edinburgh Children’s Festival and ASSITEJ Summer Festival in Seoul. The production will next be presented at major international events such as Ruhrtriennale in Germany (September 2026) and Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris (June 2027).
Cia. Ortiga presents AN-KI, an immersive object theatre experience that transports audiences into the imagination of a young girl confronting giants that threaten both the forest and her dreams. The production has recently been presented at major European festivals including Blickfelder Festival (Zurich), Schöne Aussicht Festival (Stuttgart) and Festival Teatralia (Madrid). It has also received several prestigious awards, including Best Show at FETEN, Mostra Igualada and Fira de Titelles de Lleida, as well as the International Experience Award at the Czech Theatre Critics’ Awards.
Completing Ikebanah’s presence at the festival is Llum de Fideu with SFUMATO, a site-specific outdoor performance that offers a poetic reflection on coexistence between humans and other living species. The production has also built a strong international trajectory, with presentations at Chalon dans la Rue (IN Selection) in France, Blickfelder Festival in Zurich and Passage Festival in Helsingør (Denmark). It has been recognised with the Best Show Award at Mostra Igualada and TAC Valladolid, as well as the Revelation Award at the Ramonville Street Arts Festival.
The participation of these three companies at MIMOS highlights the artistic excellence and international reach of the productions represented by Ikebanah.
