AQUÍ (Here) premiered at FiraTàrrega and was, without a doubt, one of the standout shows of the 46th edition. Llum de Fideu’s new production has captivated audiences and programme curators alike, establishing itself as what is likely to be the major revelation of this year’s festival.

Llum de Fideu staged three performances of this participatory street theatre piece, structured in two parts. In the first part, the audience watches a film being shot. Once filming is complete, the team invites the entire audience to return that very same evening to attend the premiere, which is screened outdoors whilst theatrical performances interact live with the images.

A flood of positive reviews

AQUÍ (Here)’s run in Tàrrega has certainly made an impression on specialist critics. In 3Cat, critic Toni Puntí noted that this was, without a doubt, the festival’s highlight for the young company Llum de Fideu. Puntí describes the piece as “a true theatrical challenge endowed with a seductive poetics”, placing it amongst the festival’s major revelations.

Jordi Bordes, writing in El Punt Avui, emphasises the company’s ability to evoke all time—past, present and deep memory—in the Plaça dels Àlbers through a production he describes as “astonishing”.

Recomana.cat has also joined in the praise, with a review that hails Llum de Fideu’s production as a piece for “here, now and always”: “the loveliest and most moving treat of this year’s festival”, in the words of Alba Cuenca Sánchez.

On Núvol.com, Oriol Puig Taulé has stated that “Aquí offers us an exercise in collective imagination, demonstrating, once again, that theatre always connects us with our personal stories”.

Three performers, a whole world

With just three performers on stage, mesmerising masks and a simple set, AQUÍ (Here) unfolds a profound reflection on the passage of time and the memory of the spaces we inhabit: what memories can we trace, and how far back? If the history of the Earth were a film, who would be its protagonist? A piece that invites us to step back for a moment from the idea that we occupy a privileged place in the universe, and to inhabit our ‘here’ and ‘now’ in a different way.

AQUÍ (Here) has formed part of FiraTàrrega’s programme for ‘Suport a la Creació’ and is a co-production with the Chalon dans la Rue Festival, FiraTàrrega and El Canal de Salt – Centre de creació d’arts escèniques.

The Catalan company strengthens its trajectory with the awards for Best Show and Best Scenography

After its participation in the Fira de Titelles de Lleida, one of the leading events in the field of puppetry and object theatre, Cia. Ortiga has received a double recognition for its production ACASA. The piece has been awarded Best Show and Best Scenography.

ACASA is a brief wordless 15-minute story in which two characters invite the audience into their unusual home to share what has brought them there. A new small-format proposal that has captivated both audiences and programmers.

These awards add to a broad trajectory of recognition for the company, with a particularly strong presence at the Fira de Titelles de Lleida. Among them are those received by AN-KI in 2022 — Best Show, International Jury Award, Street Arts Jury Award and National Jury Award — as well as those awarded to Kumulunimbu in 2018 — Best Dramaturgy and Best Street Performance — in the same festival.

These are joined by other distinctions, including Best Show at FETEN Gijón (2024), Best Show for Family Audiences at Mostra Igualada (2023), Special Jury Mention at TAC Valladolid (2025), and Best International Theatre Experience at the Czech Theatre Critics’ Awards (2025), all awarded to AN-KI; as well as Best Show at FIMO Puppet Festival (2018) and Special Mention at the Haifa Children Festival (2019), awarded to Kumulunimbu.

The post Cia.
From Belgium comes Modo Grosso with TOUT/RIEN, an object circus performance featuring the “time” juggler Alexis Rouvre, and Cie. Tea Tree with SEMILLA, a piece of dance, circus, and theatre for early childhood. Performances will take place on April 16 at the Teatre de l’Aurora and on April 17 at L’Escorxador (Main Hall), respectively.

The program also includes ACASA, the latest proposal from the renowned Cia. Ortiga: a wordless object and puppet theatre piece that will be performed in multiple shows on April 17 and 18 at Plaça del Gasògen. The performance will later be presented on May 1 at the Teatre El Jardí and on May 2 and 3 at the Fira de Titelles de Lleida.

Completing the program is Almealera, a company that has just joined our family and explores ancestral knowledge and trades of the territories through documentary theatre, with UNA RUEDA QUE DA VUELTAS, which will be presented on April 18 at L’Escorxador (Lateral Hall).

We are back from Gijón with great news! We are thrilled to announce that ‘VIVA!’, by the French-Spanish company La Loquace Cie, has been awarded Best Documentary Theatre Show at the recent edition of FETEN, held in Gijón (Spain) from February 21st to 27th, 2026.

This recognition highlights the narrative power of a production that, through object theatre, reconstructs the memory of a femicide in a small Castilian village during the dictatorship. Lisa Peyron and Daniel Olmos succeed in transforming a family taboo into a necessary collective reflection, balancing the story’s harshness with a “saving” distance.

After receiving three Drac d’Or awards at the Fira de Titelles de Lleida (2024) and being featured in El País’ Top 10 as one of the best plays of 2025, this award confirms VIVA! as one of the standout gems in our catalogue.

The company Engruna Teatre strengthens its international presence as its show ‘Univers‘ lands at the Sydney Opera House. This production for early childhood (ages 0-2) will be performed at the iconic Australian venue from April 10 to 19, featuring adapted sessions for neurodivergent audiences (Beyond Universe) and professional workshops.

This milestone follows the show’s success in the UK, where it has been named a finalist for the 2026 Offies Awards in the Creation category. The nomination comes after its run at London’s Barbican Centre, where it earned the OffWestEnd Assessors’ Choice seal of quality.

Since its 2021 premiere at Festival elPetit, ‘Univers’ has reached over 250 performances across ten countries. With this Sydney residency, Engruna Teatre solidifies its commitment to artistic excellence and accessibility within the international scene for early years.

Once again, we return to Gijón to take part in the 35th edition of FETEN (European Performing Arts Fair for Children) with three very different productions—two of them international—featuring diverse artistic languages ranging from puppetry and object theatre to contemporary dance, and aimed at a wide variety of audiences.

On Sunday, 22 February, we will present VIVA! by the French-Spanish company La Loquace Cie, a story about social and family taboos under the Franco dictatorship. Using humour as a critical and transformative tool, the piece questions the collective responsibility implicit in individual actions. A unique opportunity to discover a piece that has been included in El País’ list of the 10 best productions of 2025.

From 22 to 24 February, it will be the turn of ACASA by Cia. Ortiga, the company behind emblematic productions such as the award-winning An-ki and Kumulunimbu. On this occasion, they present a short, wordless story through puppets and objects, conceived for non-conventional spaces, where two characters invite us into their peculiar home.

Finally, on Thursday 26 February, Cie DK59 arrives from France to present BOLERO, a fresh and vibrant reinterpretation of Ravel’s celebrated score that explores the gestures of childhood. The tour will continue in March with confirmed dates in Valladolid, Valencia, Madrid, and Alicante.

The French company Cie DK59 presents for the first time in Spain Bolero, a fresh and luminous take on Ravel’s celebrated score. Directed by Gilles Verièpe and performed by him together with Yulia Zhabina, the piece celebrates movement and imagination through the gestures of childhood and the simple games that help us understand the world, overcome fears, and make room for lightness and joy.

The premiere of this dance piece for all audiences aged 5 and up will take place on 16 and 17 October at the FIET – Fira de Teatre Infantil i Juvenil de les Illes Balears, in Vilafranca de Bonany (Mallorca), where it will also open the festival. The company will return in March with a tour that includes Teatro Escalante in València (4–8 March 2026) and LAVA in Valladolid (1 March), among other dates.

The Eléctrico 28 collective once again invites the public to reflect on our complex relationship with the spaces that surround us. This time with The Place, which will premiere at the next edition of Fira Tàrrega, taking place from September 11 to 14. It is an immersive performance that seeks to blur the boundaries between the spectator and the environment, proposing a unique dialogue between the participants and the place.

In it, two humans try to understand more about these entities we call “places,” exploring the connection with those that often go unnoticed. Through words, bodies, sound, and music, they seek ways to communicate with them, to feel them, and to observe the impact we leave on them.

The Place is an experience to break with routine and connect with those spaces that accompany us in our daily lives, through a pair of headphones.

This summer, El Patio Teatro is placing a special focus on France, where the company will present Entrañas at two of the country’s leading puppet festivals. After its French premiere at MIMA 2024, Entrañas will be staged at the renowned RéciDives Festival in Dives-sur-Mer on July 11–12.

Later this summer, Entrañas will also be part of the 23rd Festival Mondial des Théâtres de Marionnettes in Charleville-Mézières — the world’s largest gathering of puppetry artists and the leading international reference for contemporary puppet theatre.

With Entrañas (Insides), El Patio Teatro invites audiences to a unique, intimate anatomy class where they expose themselves to the interior of the human body. Through object theatre and narrative, they pose questions to unravel some of its mysteries, transforming the stage into a delicate game and a brief anatomy lesson that looks inside us all.

In addition to these French dates, El Patio Teatro will continue touring Europe with A Mano in Santarém, Portugal (July 24–25). They will also appear at several venues in Spain: Entrañas on August 4 at the 14th Festival de Títeres de las Merindades in Salazar; and Feriantes on August 28 as part of the Patron Saint’s Day celebrations in Casas Ibáñez.

The post El Patio Teatro takes Entrañas to RéciDives and the world’s biggest puppet festival in Charleville first appeared on Ikebanah.
